From the Washington Post:
Michelle Wie woke up Tuesday morning feeling "like I was 80 years old" after playing 36 holes Monday in her unsuccessful attempt to become the first woman to qualify for the U.S. Open. Still, she said winning her first major title this week in the LPGA Championship at Bulle Rock Golf Course would go a long way toward easing her pain.
Asked if she could have chosen which event to have won this week, she hesitated for several seconds before answering: "I think it would be to win [the LPGA Championship] this week . . . it would be really awesome. Yeah, I guess I would choose winning this week."
I don't blame her, but nobody believes that's what she feels. There's no telling what'll go on inside the Bulle Rock locker room this week. It would be terrible if there were, you know, an "accident."
No, here is Wie's true heart:
Wie said she has no plans to abandon her childhood dream of one day playing on the PGA Tour and will continue to enter men's events in the United States and abroad.
"The PGA Tour stands for Professional Golf Association," she said. "There's no 'men' in [the title]. I feel like I can play out there because I'm a professional now, so I think that's cool."
